The VICTA Parent Network is offering members a chance to attend an online workshop designed to give them the best tools to help build resilience in their children.

The two hour course will be facilitated by ‘Children’s Mental Health Workshops’ who have a collective experience of 50 years working with children in a variety of roles – primary mental health, play therapy, behaviour consultation, parenting specialist and parent coaching.

The course: Building Resilience in Children and Adolescents

The content of the course will include:

  • How emotional needs present themselves
  • How self-identity is formed and develops
  • The importance of balanced mental health
  • Resilience and how to encourage resilient thinking
  • Growth mindset
  • Process praise vs outcome praise
  • 10 a day for mental health
  • Responding to distress

We expect all participants to help ensure a safe and positive experience for everyone. Unacceptable behaviour will not be tolerated during any portion of a VICTA meeting or event.

Unacceptable behaviour includes but is not limited to:

  • Intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory or demeaning speech or actions
  • Harmful or prejudicial verbal or written comments or visual images related to gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, disability or other personal characteristics, including those protected by law
  • Inappropriate use of nudity and/or sexual images
  • Real or implied threat of professional or financial damage or harm
  • Inappropriate disruption of the event
Consequences of misconduct may include:
  • Immediate removal from the event without warning
  • Restrictions from future events hosted by VICTA
Unwanted communication:

Our virtual events encourage participants to connect with one another before, after and at the event. We ask that you use this option sensibly and respect other attendees’ preferences and wishes. Please refrain from contacting anyone that expressly asked you not to contact them. Please also avoid excessively contacting anyone. We find that personalised communication works best and advise against attempts to mass-communicate with a generic message.
