VICTA is pleased to be partnering with an experienced ADHD coach to deliver an informative and supportive online session for parents and carers of vision impaired children who have been:
- Diagnosed with ADHD
- On the diagnostic pathway
- May be showing related traits
We will also be joined by a vision impaired young person from the VICTA Changemakers initiative, who has lived with ADHD all her life. She will share her lived experience and personal insights into how having both a vision impairment and ADHD has impacted her day-to-day life, education, and wellbeing.
Understanding ADHD
ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) affects attention, behaviour, and self-regulation, and can present differently in every child.
Some common signs may include:
- Difficulty with routines and everyday tasks
- Short attention span and distractibility
- Impulsive behaviour, such as interrupting or acting without thinking
- Restlessness or difficulty staying focused in school
- Social challenges, including friendships and reading social cues
Children may be supported through medication prescribed by a healthcare professional, often via the NHS, as well as therapeutic and behavioural approaches such as ADHD coaching.
This session isn’t designed to provide advice on getting an ADHD diagnosis, it’s to help parents build understanding, empathy, and confidence by introducing practical strategies to support your child at home and beyond.
About the ADHD Coach: Jasmine Kennedy
Jasmine spent almost four decades undiagnosed, misdiagnosed, and at times incorrectly medicated, before finally receiving an accurate diagnosis of ADHD combined type in her 50s. While her diagnosis helped explain a lifetime of challenges, it did not remove the reality of living with an ADHD brain in a predominantly neurotypical world.
Motivated to better understand herself and support others, Jasmine trained in advanced ADHD coaching.
In this workshop, Jasmine will share:
- How neurodivergent brains differ
- How ADHD can affect everyday life
- Practical strategies to help manage symptoms
- Ways parents and families can better support their child
ADHD coaching has been shown to be highly beneficial not only for individuals with ADHD, but also for their families. Increasing awareness and understanding is key to helping children feel supported, empowered, and able to thrive.
Join us to gain knowledge, practical tools, and valuable lived-experience insights to help you support your child with confidence.
