Extant
Extant is a registered charity which was formed in 1997, created by a group of professional visually impaired artists.
They work within the drama sector in a variety of ways:
- Pioneered theatre practice with the express inclusion of visually impaired performers and audiences
- Produced ground-breaking national tours
- Toured our theatre productions internationally
- Produced tours of the UK by international visually impaired artists
- Led arts consultancies, seminars and research in access and technology;
- Designed outdoor site-specific multi-sensory productions
- Delivered training in education, business and the arts.
Extant have a range of projects for visually impaired people to get involved with.

Touchdown Dance
Touchdown Dance is a dance company that creates performances and workshops for and involving both visually impaired people and sighted dancers. Their workshops are suitable for everyone, but are especially designed for blind or visually impaired people, and people with learning or other disabilities.

Flamingo Chicks
Flamingo Chicks CIC provides an inclusive community giving children with disabilities and illnesses the opportunity to enjoy ballet alongside their friends. They provide classes for children with different disabilities and health concerns, including undergoing treatment for cancer, children who are visually impaired, those with autism, cerebral palsy, Downs Syndrome or other needs. They actively celebrate what our children CAN do.
Flamingo Chicks deliver classes in three ways:
- SCHOOL SETTINGS
Regular weekly classes delivered at schools across Bristol, Bradford, Leeds, York, Cardiff and London.
- COMMUNITY CLASSES
Two weekly classes in Henleaze, Bristol for children and also HATCHING CHICKS – mum & baby sling ballet
- WORKSHOPS
Free Flamingo Chicks session for your school or organisation anywhere in the UK.

Step Change Studios is an award-winning, pioneering dance company committed to making dance accessible for everyone. They offer fun, engaging opportunities for disabled and non-disabled people to dance. They cater to different ages, abilities and needs.

Northern Ballet

The Northern Ballet offer an Accessible Dance programme, which is open to all ages and abilities. All of the workshops and projects are inclusive of participants with disabilities, but they also run activities specifically tailored to those with disabilities, offering the space and support to explore dance in their own way. They also offer audio described and relaxed performances if you would prefer to just appreciate the show rather than participate.

UCAN
UCAN productions is a performance and creative arts co-operative for blind and partially sighted children, young people and their friends. Being involved with UCAN is about having fun and making new friends and is open to all. The practical aim is to develop personal, physical and vocal confidence through drama games, music and movement exercises.
